Finishes

Chosen by material, use and look, and often combined.

Anodizing

Protection and color for aluminum

Corrosion and wear resistant, dyed black, blue, red and more

Bead blasting

An even, fine matte texture

Hides tool marks, often paired with anodizing

Powder coat / paint

Color-matched coatings

Common on sheet metal and plastics, in matte, gloss or texture

Plating

Nickel, chrome and zinc

Better conductivity, corrosion resistance or a metallic look

Silk screen / laser

Logos, text and scales

Multi-color printing, or permanent laser marking that will not wear off

Polishing

From fine finish to mirror

Removes tool marks for a smoother surface and feel

Why finish your parts

The same part can last longer and look far better with the right finish.

  1. 01

    Protection

Anodizing, plating and powder coating add a protective layer that improves corrosion and wear resistance.

  2. 02

    Look and feel

Color, gloss and texture shape first impressions, so cosmetic parts almost always need a finish.

  3. 03

    Function

Conductivity, insulation, wear resistance and grip can all come from the right finish.

  4. 04

    One-stop delivery

Finishing is part of the same order as machining, with no extra suppliers, shipping or coordination.

Typical uses

  • Consumer electronics

Housings, buttons and trim, often bead blasted and anodized, painted or laser-marked.

  • Industrial equipment

Enclosures, brackets and fasteners protected with powder coat, zinc or nickel plating.

  • Show models and prototypes

Trade show samples and review models finished by sanding, painting and printing to look production-ready.

How to choose a finish

Start with the material. Aluminum is most often anodized, which protects and colors it at once. Steel parts are usually zinc or nickel plated or powder coated against rust. Plastic and 3D printed parts are typically sanded and painted.

Then think about use and appearance. Cosmetic parts care about color, gloss and feel, so bead blasting, anodizing and laser marking are often combined. Functional parts care more about wear, conductivity or insulation. Note the color (swatch or code) and which surfaces need finishing in your order, and our engineers will confirm feasibility with your quote.
